We’ve just discovered the Grimeborn Festival, produced at the Arcola theater in London which runs July 24 – August 26. The Festival is a mix of innovative stagings of classic operas, remounts of contemporary and baroque operas, and concerts.

The Glimmerglass Festival announced that in 2019 they will present the world premiere of Blue, a new opera by Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson that dives into the emotional epicenter of a black couple coming to terms with the sudden death of their teenage son.

Odyssey Opera in Boston announced their 2018-19 season will showcase a two-part journey with the first half memorializing the 200th anniversary of French composer Charles Gounod’s birth and the second inspired by Helen of Troy. The company will showcase a total of five operas, including three fully-staged works, two concert performances, and the U.S. premiere of Gounod’s “La Reine de Saba.”

Toronto’s Bicycle Opera Project will premiere The Llandovery Castle June 26 and 27, which will tells the story of a German submarine that torpedoed a Canadian hospital ship bound for Liverpool off the southern coast of Ireland exactly On the Hundred Year Anniversary of the horrible and heroic event.
