Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance is holding 2 free events, a masterclass Wednesday with Metropolitan Opera soprano, Sharon Sweet and An Afternoon of Opera Highlights! The Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island starts their run of Patience, Concert:nova, premieres “The Bradbury Tattoos”, And Cincinnati Opera will present the US Premiere “Another Brick in the Wall”.

This week in the New York Opera Fest, Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance is holding 2 free events, a masterclass Wednesday with Metropolitan Opera soprano, Sharon Sweet. And Saturday they are producing  An Afternoon of Opera Highlights! Featuring scenes from Falstaff and Don Pasquale performed by its young artist program.

Also starting Saturday, The Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island starts their run of Patience at The Jeanne Rimsky Theatre, Port Washington and The Syphonie Fantastique continues it’s run at HERE arts center.

This summer looks like a great time for opera in Cincinnati. This coming July 13th, Concert:nova, the contemporary classical ensemble in Cincinnati will give the world premiere of  Zac Greenberg and Michael Burnham’s “The Bradbury Tattoos”, an opera based on four Ray Bradbury Stories

And Cincinnati Opera will present the US Premiere of ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ an opera based on Pink Floyd’s iconic 1979 album, “The Wall.” July 20, 21, 26, 28 and 31

And then July 25 – 30  Cincinnati Opera will be performing ‘As One’ a transgender woman’s coming-of-age story by Laura Kaminsky who will be our guest on the July Indie Opera Podcast.
